I was born in Faisalabad, Pakistan and completed my preliminary education from local school and college. Faisalabad is the third largest metropolis in Pakistan. It is famous in all over the world due to the Textile industry and is known as “Manchester of Pakistan”. Textile products produced here are appreciated all over the world. It contributes 55 % of Pakistan’s export. After completing my college, I joined Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology (ICET), University of the Punjab, Pakistan, to peruse degree in B.Sc. (Engg.) Metallurgy & Materials Science. I choose this university because it is the oldest and largest university in Pakistan. It was established in 1882 in Sub continent. Two Nobel Laureates Dr Abdus Salam & Har Gobind Khorana are graduates of this University.
Now I chose to study abroad in China because of its reputation as one of the world’s leading economies and I chose Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMR, CAS) because of its reputation as the best Institute in the country. Shenyang, where IMR situated; is the largest city in Northeast China. It is the capital as well as political, economic and cultural center of Liaoning Province. It is also an important industrial base and a famous historical city. The Hostels are really nice and are near to the big shopping malls. Last weekend I visited many palces here in shenyang like imperial palace and Dongling park. I never imagined it before that I can see these historical places. China is by far one of the most amazing places, I have ever been. The culture has proven to be rich, and unique. I am experiencing the amazing Chinese culture with its lovely people and delicious food. The people here are friendly, cooperative and hospitable. It truly exceeded my expectations.
IMR is one of the best Institutes in china providing the opportunities for the research in the field of Materials Science & Engineering. The Laboratories and equipment are state of the art. It is truly a Place of knowledge and Research. The supervisor Prof. Mr Jiuzhou Zhao, the comfortable dormitories, and the friendly community made me feel welcome, safe, and motivated. I feel privileged to have come into contact with one of the finest and historic society of the world. Currently I am doing research on “Solidification behavior of Immiscible Alloys”.
